    GovTech, or government technology, is projected to exceed a global market value of $1 trillion by 2028, according to the World Economic Forum. The pandemic and advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have accelerated this growth, with many GCC countries integrating AI strategies into their national visions.

    Recognizing this momentum, MIT Sloan Management Review Middle East will host GovTech Conclave on November 21, 2024, in Abu Dhabi, UAE, with a focus on harnessing technology for efficient, effective, and accessible government. 

    In the Middle East, Saudi Arabia and the UAE are leading the charge in GovTech initiatives. These efforts aim to enhance public service delivery, strengthen core government systems, and improve the overall GovTech ecosystem. 

    Saudi Arabia was ranked the best in the region and third globally for digital government transformation, as per the World Bank’s GovTech Maturity Index (GTMI) for 2022. The country has streamlined government services through a one-stop portal (gov.sa), offering single sign-on access.

    The UAE’s Unified Digital Platform (U.ae) provides the convenience of accessing multiple services through a single platform. This initiative is a significant step towards achieving the UAE’s digital transformation goals.

    Qatar’s National Digital Agenda 2030 aims to foster a prosperous digital future and position the country as a smart and technologically advanced nation. In March, Qatar and Saudi Arabia signed an agreement to expand digital governance capabilities, marking the latest in bilateral cooperation.

    The adaptation to emerging technologies reflects the GCC’s commitment to becoming a global technological hub, with a strong emphasis on citizen engagement.

    The high-level summit with the theme Governance in the AI Era will bring together top government and ministry officials, thought leaders, researchers, and policymakers to explore real-world applications of AI, blockchain, IoT, and mobile platforms in building robust, inclusive, and resilient government systems.

    Key topics include leveraging data for effective decision-making, fortifying cybersecurity defenses, modernizing legacy systems, and harnessing the power of generative AI to enhance public services. Attendees will gain insights into the latest trends in digital transformation, including open government initiatives, infrastructure modernization, and ethical AI regulation. The event will also spotlight the Middle East’s digital transformation journey and the potential of hyper-automation to revolutionize government operations.
