3M
For prioritizing worker safety and positively impacting brand loyalty
In 2023, 3M set up the Fall Protection Training Center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Their courses, developed for in-person and online consumption, are designed keeping specific industries in mind and help students to navigate work environments via practical application of concepts. Courses include vertical or suspended work, rescue techniques, confined spaces, PPE usage, regulation compliance and much more.
After surveying 114 students, the course received a 4.97 on 5 rating for effectiveness. In addition, the brand was able to measure 19% revenue growth in 2023. The initiative has had a positive impact on brand loyalty.
It addresses the following UN Sustainable Development Goals;
- Quality Education
- Decent work and economic growth
- Industry innovation and infrastructure
Since the launch, 3M has trained 250 workers from across six countries in the Middle East region. This includes 14 Emirati women. The effort translates to over 930 hours of training, which is accretive to 3M’s Science for Circular goal to “Provide training to 5 million people globally on worker and patient safety” from 2019 to 2025.
